You have to use social media. Facebook and YouTube are huge! With some smart marketing you could get some serious exposure
this is cool but myspace was the KING of social media for helping up-and-coming musicians…
every day I find out that another currently huge act or producer was discovered through myspace.. lex luger, hit boy, Flocka, grizzly bear…the list goes on and on and on–I’d say about 70% of newer acts in all genres made it during that slim window when myspace was Poppin…
hit boy for example wrote Polow, Polow checked out his page, dug his tracks, flew him out the next week and that was that…
myspace let you get a vibe of the artist check their pics and click their music right then and there–that is why it worked.. these new sites make visitors jump through too many hoops to hear your stuff… and the presentation is too bland and doesn’t allow us to brand ourselves the way myspace did– but it is what it is…
word is Justin Timberlake just bought a huge share in myspace with the aim of gearing it to the entertainment industry… so we’ll see…
ps: main flaw in his argument is that when people get free things from a large entity they feel that they’ve been gifted something by a higher life form (so to speak) but when people get the labor and creations of another human for free they view that human as not worth being paid for their services…
