Helm is a cross-platform, polyphonic software synthesizer for electronic music. It operates either standalone or as a plugin and is offered in 32-bit and 64-bit versions. This synth is compatible with GNU/Linux, Mac OSX, and Windows.

It has a variety of features designed to help producers create unique synth sounds. These include a dual oscillator module with waveform selectors and cross-modulation for pitch change.

Plugin Interface:

  • Oscillators – These create sound waves. You can change their shape and pitch.
  • Tune – Adjusts the pitch of the oscillators.
  • Volume – Controls how loud the sound is.
  • Filter – Changes the quality of the sound by removing certain frequencies.
  • Feedback – This adds extra sound layers by repeating parts of the audio.
  • Stutter – Repeats parts of the sound to create a choppy effect.
  • Distortion – Makes the sound rougher and more intense.
  • Delay – Echoes the sound, like it’s bouncing back.
  • Reverb – Makes the sound feel like it’s in a large space, adding echo and depth.
  • Amplitude Envelope – Controls how the sound starts, holds, and stops.
  • Filter Envelope – Changes how the filter affects the sound over time.
  • Mod Envelope – Modifies different effects over time to shape the sound.
  • Step Sequencer – Plays notes in a repeating pattern.
  • Keyboard Mod – Adjusts sound based on how you play the keyboard.
  • Voices – Sets how many notes can be played at once.
  • Porta – Smooths the change when moving between notes.
