Dexed is a free multi-platform and multi-format synth VST plugin, available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, modeled on the Yamaha DX7.
It works as a MIDI librarian/manager for the DX7. It offers 144 controllable DX7 parameters from a single panel. Allows loading and saving any DX7/TX7 SysEx programs, and can be used as a patch editor and SysEx manager.

Plugin Interface:
- Operators – These are the squares numbered 1 to 6. Each operator creates a sound and can be adjusted with the knobs.
- Coarse and Fine – These knobs help you change the pitch of the sound. Coarse makes big changes, and fine makes small changes.
- EG Level and EG Rate – These control the envelope generator, which changes how the sound starts, holds, and stops.
- Break Point – This sets a point where the sound changes during its play.
- Algorithm – This box lets you choose how the operators affect each other to create different sounds.
- Feedback – This knob controls how much of the sound is fed back into itself to make it thicker or noisier.
- Cutoff and Resonance – These knobs adjust the filter, which changes how bright or dull the sound is.
- Wave – This setting determines the type of wave shape used, affecting the sound’s character.
- Detune – This slightly changes the pitch of the operators to make the sound richer.
- Velocity – This controls how the sound changes when you press the keys harder or softer.
- LFO Key Sync – This synchronizes the low-frequency oscillator to the notes you play.
- Store Button – This button is used to save your settings and sounds that you create.
- Keyboard – The on-screen keys let you play notes directly within the plugin.
