Great post. There are many great DAWs out there. Also, it is a plus to learn some music theory. That will help with making great beats.

Stating the obvious sure. But it'll definitely help those who are starting from ground zero with no knowledge of making beats.

Nice post Mafz!

Good starter post. But there is a lot to be said for making beats that get people's head bobbing. That's really the main ingredient: the head bobbing factor. You can get to know your DAW, even become a master at it, but if you don't know understand things like rhythm, dynamics, gate times, compression, side chaining, limiting, etc you're going to be stuck using other people's loops. Not to say that's a bad thing because we know half the people on the charts --if not more-- do that, but the point remains. If you want to make original stuff, you really have to dig in and extract grooves and figure out what happens in commercial beats you really like it. That is the best way to learn and always has been: copying the greats.

Right?

Mark

Well I'm gonna have to agree with the first guy nothing new really here just stating the obvious. you should tell the differences between the different DAW's, the Pros and Cons of FL studio, Logic, Reason what appeals to different types of styles and people and prices.
